A business card is the most important tool any designer (or businessman) should have. It delivers the brand of your company and, most importantly, it represents YOU as a creative professional. It gives your potential client a glimpse into who you are, what you can do and your level of professionalism. Lets be honest, high quality work and reasonable pricing do not always speak for its self, but professionalism always does. That is what a client is looking for, someone they can rely on, trust and ultimately deliver the project they require. That is what your business card must reflect.
How do you design a business card that portrays who you are, what you do and how you do it? Sadly, there is no real answer to give for these questions, other than to say that it is down to each individuals personal creativity. There are basic guidelines and goals to the content of business card, which we have listed below:
Business Card Content
The goal of a business card is to make it easy for someone to reach you, not difficult. Put as much of the following as possible:
1. Business name (if there is one).
2. Your name.
3. Your title.
4. A phone number (or two).
5. A fax number.
6. A mailing address.
7. Your e-mail address (never use a free service).
8. The URL of every—and only—website.
9. (Optional)A tag line.
10. (Optional) Your line of work, if not clearly identified by your business name, title, or tagline.
11. (Optional) Any (Optional) you’ve earned (i.e. “Adobe Certified Expert, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, Acrobat”).
12. (Optional) If you speak or work in more than one language.
